North Clay's Zimmerman Pitches Victory

LOUISVILLE -- North Clay High School's Donnie Zimmerman threw a shutout to lead the Cardinals to a 3-0 win over Cumberland in the Class 1A Baseball Sectional Wednesday.

Zimmerman went the distance, allowing no runs on four hits, one walk while striking out nine.

Meanwhile, North Clay had 10 hits and tallied single runs in the second, third and fourth innings.

Zimmerman and Carson Brukett contributed two singles each while Collyn Ballard and Holden Clifton had a triple each. Dakota Teague and Bryton Griffy drove in a run each with singles.

Cumberland was led by B. Shew with two singles.

North Clay will now host South Central Friday at 4:30 p.m. in the sectional championship. The winner advances to the Carbondale Super-Sectional Monday at 4 p.m.
