Regional Pairings Out For High School Baseball

Most of the area squads will be competing in Class 1A. This year regionals are listed with a letter while sectionals are listed with a number. The games will be played at the higher seeds.

Effingham St. Anthony drew the top seed in Regional A and will play host to the winner of the Hutsonville/Palestine vs. Oblong contest Friday, June 4 at 4:30 p.m.

Hutsonville/Palestine is seeded ninth while Oblong drew the No. 8 seed. Also in the field are No. 5 Dieterich and No. 4 North Clay (Louisville).

In Regional B are No. 2 South Central, No. 3 Altamont, No. 6 Brownstown/St. Elmo, No. 7 Red Hill (Bridgeport) and No. 10 Cisne.

Regional D members are No. 2 Neoga, No. 3 Cumberland, No. 6 Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and No. 7 Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

The winners of these three regionals along with Regional C will compete in Sectional Six action June 9 and 11.

Two area teams, Newton and Teutopolis, will play in Class 2A in Regional A and B. T-town drew the No. 1 seed and will host either No. 8 Salem or No. 9 Lawrenceville on Friday, June 4 at 4:30 p.m. in Regional A. Other members of the field include No. 4 Flora and No. 5 Greenville.

Newton, seeded third, will compete in Regional B along with No. 2 Fairfield, No. 6 Vandalia, No. 7 Mount Carmel and No. 10 Robinson.

The winners of regionals A, B, C and D will head to Sectional Seven Wednesday, June 9.

Effingham is the lone area squad to take part in Class 3A. The Hearts drew the No. 5 seed and will head to No. 4 Mattoon Friday, June 4. Other members of the field include No. 8 Olney and No. 1 Troy Triad.
