Wooden Shoes Hand Newton, 11-6 Baseball Loss

Teutopolis High School improved to 13-6 on the spring campaign with an 11-6 victory over Newton in baseball action Wednesday.

Evan Addis was the big hitter for the Wooden Shoes. Addis powered out two home runs and finished with five RBI.

The Wooden Shoes led 3-1 after the first inning but the Eagles tied the score in the second. T-town then had a six-run third and finished out with two in the fifth.

Logan Roepke had a double and drove in two runs while Andy Niebrugge added a double. Kayden Althoff had two singles and Evan Wermert had a single and an RBI.

Althoff picked up the win, going three innings, allowing three runs on three hits.

Newton was led in hitting by Aaron Einhorn and Ben Meinhart with two singles each. Einhorn had two RBI and Meinhart one. Gage Reynolds added a single and drove in three runs. the Eagles drop to 9-7.

T-town will be back in action today at Evergreen Hollow Park against Effingham St. Anthony at 4:30 p.m. The game will be heard on KJ Country 102.3.

At Kinmundy

South Central tallied an 11-1 victory over Fairfield in five innings via the 10-run rule Wednesday.

The Cougars took a 2-1 opening inning lead then tallied three runs in the second and fourth, two in the third and one in the fifth to end the game.

Chase Dodson and Sam Rubin provided the one-two hitting punch for the Cougars with a double, home run and two RBI each. Aiden Dodson had a single, double and drove in a run while Spencer Johannes added a double and two RBI.

A. Dodson picked up the win on the mound going five innings, allowing one run on three hits, one walk and six strikeouts.

The Cougars will host Neoga today at 4:30 p.m.

The victory was the 799th of Coach Curt Jones' career and the 999th win since South Central consolidated.

At St. Anthony

Teutopolis and Effingham St. Anthony split freshman/sophomore contests Wednesday.

The Wooden Shoes won 8-3 behind a 13-hit attack. T-town held a 3-2 lead after three innings then added on two in the fourth and three in the fifth.

B. Thompson led the way for the Shoes with a single, two doubles and an RBI while B. Kreke had two doubles and an RBI, E. Waldhoff a single, double and an RBI, Ca. Siemer a double and an RBI, T. Schwerdt two singles and an RBI and C. Bloemer with a double.

The Bulldogs were led by M. Koenig with a double and three RBIs and C. Roepke with two singles.

In the second contest, the Bulldogs picked up a 2-1 victory. St. Anthony scored both runs in the second while T-town's run came in the fifth.

The Bulldogs had three hits, all singles by Dietzen, Jansen and Roepke. Dietzen and Westendorf had an RBI each.

T-town had two hits, singles by C. Hoelscher and Z. Niebrugge who had the one RBI.
