St. Anthony's Colton Fearday pitched a no-hitter to clinch the championship. The win for the Bulldogs follows a 3-0 victory Wednesday night.
Fearday walked two and hit a batter on the way to the no-hitter. The other players who reached base for the Hearts did so via the error route. Fearday fanned four batters.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony scored in the first on a wild pitch after Logan Antrim led off with a single. St. Anthony added two runs in the second on a walk, an error, a sacrifice and a second single by Antrim.
The Bulldogs plated five runs in the fourth inning on three errors, a single by Kennan Walsh, a groundout and a two-run triple by Eli Moore.
A double by Angelo Mendella in the fifth, a hit by pitch, a single by Antrim and another error led to the 10-run rule.
Antrim, who pitched a four-hit shutout for St. Anthony in Wednesday's game, went three-for-three at the top of the order, scored twice, stole three bases, and drove in two runs.
St. Anthony is now 13-1, while Effingham is 10-3. Game 3 will be played at 7pm Friday at Paul Smith Field at Community Park. Hear the game on 979XFM and www.979xfm.com.
