Raddatz Leads EHS To Victory; Altamont, Neoga Win, Baseball Roundup

Christian Raddatz was bad news for Taylorville pitchers Tuesday, driving in five runs on one hit to lead Effingham past the Tornadoes, 17-2 in four innings.

 

Raddatz drove in four runs on a grand slam in the first and a fifth run by drawing a walk.

The Hearts ran off to a 13-0 first inning lead then added on three in the second and finished out with one in the fourth.

Josh McDevitt led the Hearts on the pitcher's mound. The ace went two innings and did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out four. Raddatz and Max Nelson threw an inning each, both allowing a hit. Nelson allowed two runs.

The Hearts totaled 11 hits. Nelson and Dylan Cunningham had three singles each. Cunningham drove in three runs while Nelson had two. Gabe Eaton had a double and an RBI. Gauge Massey and Quest Hull had a single and an RBI each. Jackson Doedtman had a single while Joe Matteson didn't have a hit but finished with two RBI.

At Brownstown

Altamont's Tyler Robbins threw a three-hitter as the Indians handed Brownstown/St. Elmo a 7-1 loss Tuesday.

Robbins went the distance with three walks and five strikeouts.

The Indians held a 2-1 lead after three innings then tallied two more in the fourth and sixth and one in the seventh.

Altamont had 10 hits in the contest led by Noah Klimpel with two singles and Jared Hammer and Brennyn Abendroth with a double each.

BSE was led by Brady Maxey with a double and Dalton Myers with a single and an RBI. The Bombers drop to 6-6 on the season.

At Brownstown

At Villa Grove

Neoga had a five-run second inning and went on to defeat Villa Grove-Heritage, 7-3.

Although the Indians had only four hits compared to eight for the host squad, they were aided by six errors and eight walks.

Nate Lacy had two singles and an RBI for the winners while Luke Romack and Ryan Koester had a double each. Koester drove in two runs. Treyton Vaughn and Kaden Young had an RBI each.

Adam Fearday was the winning pitcher, going five innings, allowing two runs on six hits, two walks while striking out three.

At Villa Grove

At Lincoln

Teutopolis dropped to 11-4 on the season with a 3-2 loss at the hands of Lincoln Tuesday.

Evan Addis (2-1) picked up the tough-luck loss, allowing three runs on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.

Kayden Althoff had two singles for the Shoes while Mitch Althoff had a single and drove in two runs.

Tanner Strampp picked up the win on the mound for Lincoln, allowing two runs on four hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

T-town drops to 1-1 in the Apollo Conference. The Shoes are back in action Thursday hosting Altamont in a 7 p.m. contest.

In freshman/sophomore action, T-town was a 13-3 winner over Lincoln.

The Shoes held a 6-3 lead after three innings then tallied one in the fourth, three in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

T-town had 14 hits n the game led by B. Goeckner with a single, double and three RBI, B. Thompson with two singles, a triple and four RBI, E. Waldhoff with a triple and three RBI and Ca. Siemer and B. Kreke with two singles and an RBI each.

Casey-Westfield came calling and pounded out 17 hits and scored a 17-1 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in four innings Tuesday.

The Warriors took a 2-0 first inning lead then had a 10-run third and a five-run fourth. CHBC scored its lone run ni the fourth.

Mason Manley had a double and an RBI for CHBC.
