Los Angeles Angels pitcher and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani started Monday’s game against the Texas Rangers after having hit his seventh home run the day before to tie for the Major League Baseball lead.

By doing so, he became the first home run leader to be a starting pitcher for a game since Babe Ritj did it for the New York Yankees 100 years earlier on June 13, 1921.

Ohtani struck out nine over five innings in Monday’s 9-4 win over the Rangers, and also scored three runs and drove in two.
