Altamont, St. A, T-town, CHBC Nab Wins In Baseball

Altamont High School broke loose and tallied a 10-3 win over Dieterich in high school baseball competition Thursday. The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3.

Dieterich held a 3-1 lead after two innings, scoring all three runs in the bottom of the second. But that lead was short-lived as the Indians came back with three runs of their own in the top of the third to pull ahead 4-3. Altamont then scored a run in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Altamont had nine hits in the contest led by Jared Hammer, Brayden Stuemke and Jack Scott with two singles each. Hammer had two RBI while Stuemke had one. AJ Kopplin had the lone extra base hit with a double and drove in a run.

Eirhart was the winning pitcher, going 4.2 innings, allowing three runs on four hits, two walks while striking out six. Bradin Baucum came on in the fifth and went 2.1 innings, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out five.

Dieterich was led by Dalton Will and Matthew Hunzinger with two singles each. Will drove in two runs while Hunzinger had one RBI.

 At Mahomet

Effingham St. Anthony pounded Mahomet-Seymour 11-0 in six innings Thursday.

The Bulldogs stepped out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning then had a five-run sixth to end the contest via the 10-run rule.

Logan Antrim went the distance on the mound, throwing a one-hitter. He allowed five walks while striking out 10.

Eli Moore was the big gun on the day with a single, home run and four RBI. Angelo Mendella had a double and drove in two runs while Colton Fearday had a single and three RBI. Eli Link had a single and drove in two runs.

At Mulberry Grove

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City started slow but came on strong in the end for a 9-4 win over Mulberry Grove Thursday.

Mulberry Grove held a 1-0 first inning lead and pushed that to 3-0 in the second. CHBC tallied a single run in the fourth, then broke the game open with a six-run fifth. Mulberry Grove added a run in the bottom of the fifth but the Bobcats came back with single runs in the sixth and seventh.

CHBC had only three hits in the contest, singles by Buzzard, Manley and Lamb. Lamb drove in two runs while Manley had one. Lorton had two RBI.

Mulberry Grove pitchers game up 10 walks in the contest.

Manley picked up the win on the mound for the Bobcats, going 3.2 innigs, allowing two runs on two hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis ended this one in five innings, via the 10-run rule as the Wooden Shoes downed Robinson, 12-1 Thursday.

The Shoes held a 2-0 lead after the first inning then tallied seven runs in the second, one in the third and two in the fourth.

Evan Wermert led T-town offensively with a triple, home run and four RBI. Sam Bushur had a single, double and two RBI and Evan Addis two singles.

Derek Konkel went 2.2 innings on the mound, allowing one run on two hits, two walks and striking out four.

The Shoes are back in action Saturday against Pleasant Plains at 10 a.m.

Brownstown/St. Elmo fell to Shelbyville by a 5-1 count Thursday.

The Rams took a 1-0 first inning lead and held that until the fourth, scoring two runs and two more in the sixth. BSE finally dented the plate in the top of the seventh.

BSE had three hits, doubles by Dalton Myers and Brady Maxey and a single and an RBI from Kevin Hall.

BSE is back in action Monday against Martinsville.
