The Chicago Cubs and Trevor Williams have agreed to a one-year deal, according to ESPN.

Williams, a former Pittsburgh pitcher, only went 2-8 during the 2020 shortened season and had a 6.18 ERA. Williams went 14-10 during the 2018 season and had a 1.38 ERA. Williams has been with the Pirates for five years.

The Cubs are seeking to add to a pitching staff that saw Tyler Chatwood, Jon Lester and Jose Quintanta in free agency and the trade that sent Yu Darvish to San Diego.

Cardinals Seeking Nolan Arenado

The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to acquire Nolan Arenado from Colorado.

Nothing is final at this point but reports have come in that Arenado, who signed a $260 million contract before the 2019 season with the Rockies, may be heading to St. Louis. Money will figure into the deal along with the Rockies receiving multiple players that could include Jhon Torres, Austin Gomber and Luken Baker. Also among the possibilities could be Angel Rondon and Jake Woodford.
