A rough start to the season for the Effingham Hearts Friday, as they lost to Troy Triad in five innings, 11-0, at EHS Field.

Triad plated six runs in the second inning, added two runs in the third and ended the game with three runs in the fifth inning to win by the 10-run rule.

Drew Levitt took the loss for the Hearts, allowing six earned runs on five hits and three walks in two innings of work.  Levitt, fighting his control, also hit two batters and was charged with a wild pitch while recording two strikeouts.

Kevin Daugherty worked two innings, allowing five runs, four earned on five hits and a walk while striking out two.  Preston Walker pitched a perfect fifth inning with one strikeout.

At the plate, things didn't go much better for the Hearts as Drew Levitt and Carter Hayes each doubled for Effingham's only two hits.
