Effingham Junior High School stepped out to a 3-0 opening inning lead and went on to bounce Casey-Westfield 15-0 in three innings of baseball action Monday.

 

The Mustangs had nine hits led by Kaden Koeberlein with two singles, a double and four RBI and Max Flack with a single, double and an RBI. Ethan Jones added a triple and an RBI.

Rylan Pals picked up the win on the mound allowing three hits, no walks and striking out four.

At Sacred Heart

Effingham Sacred Heart and North Clay (Louisville) played to a 9-9 tie in eight innings Monday.

North Clay jumped out to a 7-2 opening inning lead and led 9-5 after five innings. The Shamrocks tied the score in the bottom of the sixth and the game was called in the eighth.

Sparks had three singles and an RBI for Sacred Heart while Traub had two singles and two RBI.

North Clay was led by Griffy with a double, Hoyt with two singles and two RBI and Czyzewski with two singels and an RBI.

At Oblong

Newton St. Thomas took down Oblong, 11-0 in Monday afternoon action.

Carson Barthelme and Alex Gier combined to pitch a two-hit shutout.

Quincy Fulton and Beau Bennett led the Saints' 13-hit attack. Bennett had three singles and two RBI while Fulton had a single, double and a home run driving in four RBI.

The Saints improve to 2-7 and travel to Sigel St. Michael Thursday.

 

At Shelbyville

Shelbyville took the early lead and held on for a 5-4 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

Shelbyville led 1-0 in the first inning. The score was tied at 2-2 in the second. CHBC moved ahead 3-2 in the fifth and 4-2 in the top of the sixth. Shelbyville came back with a run in the bottom of the frame to pull within 4-3 and then tied the game in the bottom of the seventh. Gonig into extra innings, Shelbyville pulled out the win in the ninth with a run.

CHBC was led by Wyatt Rueff with two doubles and an RBI. Blake Mueller had a single and an RBI.
