Behind a nine-hit attack, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City tallied a 4-1 win over Dieterich in junior high baseball action Monday.

 

CHBC edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had two runs in the third and one in the sixth. Dieterich's lone run came in the fourth.

CHBC's Wyatt Rueff, Conner Nowitzke and AJ Radloff had a single and a double each. Nowitzke drove in two runs.

Hunter Pope was the winning pitcher while Kaidyn Calame picked up the save. CHBC improved to 3-2 in the National Trail Conference, 3-3 overall. CHBC is back in action Thursday at Altamont.

Dieterich was led in hitting by M. Lidy with two singles. L. Westendorf had the lone RBI.

At Newton

Red Hill took down the Newton St. Thomas Saints, 6-5 Monday afternoon.

Top hitters for St.Thomas were Wade Ochs, Drew Earnest and Carson Barthelme with two hits apiece while Barthelme drove in all five of the Saints' runs.

St. Thomas dropped to 1-4 and will be back in action Wednesday hosting Cumberland.

 

At Sacred Heart

Altamont Lutheran picked up an 8-5 victory over Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high action Monday.

Altamont Lutheran edged out to a 2-0 opening inning lead. The Shamrocks tallied one in the second and tied in the fourth. Altamont Lutheran then had two runs in the fifth and four in the sixth. Sacred Heart rallied in the bottom of the seventh but fell short scoring two runs.

Borries had a single, double and two RBI for Sacred Heart while Sparks went three-for-four with three singles and Karolewicz had two singles.

Altamont Lutheran was led by Wagner with two singles and two RBI and Schultz with two singles and one RBI. Miller added a double.

At Brownstown

Neoga picked up a 6-4 victory over Brownstown/St. Elmo in Monday action.

BSE held a 3-0 lead through three innings. BSE tallied a run in the third and tied in the fourth. The two teams were tied at 4-4 in the sixth. Neoga then tallied two in the seventh for the win.

Neoga had only two hits, both singles.

BSE had six hits led by L. Wilhour with two singles.
