The Teutopolis Wooden Shoes posted a 7-1 victory in high school baseball Monday afternoon. The contest was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com

The Shoes scored four runs in the first inning against a shaky Altamont defense, scoring the runs on just two hits.

The rally started with two outs when Altamont starter Tyler Robbins walked Sam Bushur and Evan Wermert. Matt Deters and Kaden Althoff then followed with base hits. Back-to-back errors then compounded the situation before Robbins could work a strikeout to end the inning.

The Shoes scored a run in the second inning. Robbins hit Justin Hardiek to begin the frame. Another error allowed Evan Addis to reach base. Addis eventually came around to score without the benefit of a hit to make it 5-0.

Altamont's defense settled down and the game was scoreless for the next four innings before the Wooden Shoes struck for two more runs in the top of the seventh.

Sam Bushur singled to start the frame. A ground ball, two errors and a fielder's choice and an RBI single by Mitch Althoff made it 7-0.

Altamont got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Back-to-back singles by Wyatt Phillips and A.J. Kopplin were followed by consecutive outs before consecutive walks forced courtesy runner Jack Scott in with the lone Indians run.

Evan Addis, Caleb Siemer and Dylan Pruemer combined for the win on the mound for the Wooden Shoes. Addis pitched the first two innings, giving up two hits and a walk while striking out three before feeling something in his arm. Siemer then threw three innings, allowing two hits. Pruemer pitched the final two innings, allowing three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Robbins pitched a far better game than the final score indicates. He went 6-1/3 innings before having to leave due to the pitch count. He gave up six runs, but all were unearned. He hit three batters and allowed six hits, but walked just two with two strikeouts. Wyatt Philips got the final two outs, hitting a batter and giving up a hit and a wild pitch and allowed the final run.
