Darvish One-Hits Brewers, Cardinals Return To Play Saturday

Darvish kept a no-hit bid going until the Brewers' Justin Smoak smacked a solo home run in the seventh. Darvish ended up going seven innings, allowing the one hit with two walks and 11 strikeouts to improve his record on the mound to 3-1.
Meanwhile, the Cubs picked up their ninth victory in 10 games and now sport a 13-3 record, the best start since the 1907 Cubs who also had 13 victories.
The Cubs held a 1-0 lead after the opening inning before Kyle Schwarber had a solo shot in the second. Ian Happ finished with a single, double and an RBI while David Bote had a single and drove in a run and Javier Baez had an RBI. Nico Hoerner had a double.
After throwing 92 pitches in six innings, Darvish was only going to be allowed to go one more inning. He threw 38 pitches in the first two innings. His ERA is now 1.88 on the season.
Cardinals Return to Play Saturday
The St. Louis Cardinals will finally be back in action Saturday, August 15.
The Cardinals have been sidelined due to players and staff having Coronavirus. It's been 17 days since their last game on July 29.
A game against the Chicago White Sox Friday has been postponed but will be pushed to Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 1:10 p.m. Both games will be seven innings. The Carndials will then face the White Sox Sunday.
