Rizzo's homer came in the third inning. He also added a single. Bryant's solo shot came in the sixth.
The Cubs edged out to a 1-0 third inning lead then had a three-run fifth and single runs in the sixth, eighth and ninth.
Kyle Hendricks claimed his third win against one loss. Hendricks went seven innings, allowing one run, seven hits, no walks and striking out five. Effingham'sDanny Winkler went 0.2 innings on the mound allowing one run, two walks and striking out one.
Jason Heyward continued his hot hitting with a double and two RBI. Jason Kipnis added a double and an RBI.
