Major League Baseball issued a 60-game schedule for the season Tuesday night, which will start July 23 or July 24, ending months of back-and-forth with the players’ union.
Commissioner Rob Manfred was able to unilaterally set a schedule under a March deal with the union if, as happened, an agreement couldn’t be reached.
In changes for the season, the designated hitter will be used in NL games, and extra innings will start with a runner on second base.
