The Detroit Tigers chose Arizona State slugger Spencer Torkelson with the Number One pick in MLB’s amateur draft last night. The Baltimore Orioles took Arkansas outfielder Heston Kjerstad with the second pick, and the Miami Marlins chose Minnesota pitcher Max Meyer third.

Because of the pandemic, the draft was held remotely and was cut down from three days with 40 rounds to two days with five rounds.

The Chicago Cubs took Ed Howard 16th overall in Wednesday's MLB Draft. Howard is a shortstop prospect from Chicago.

The St. Louis Cardinals went with Jordan Walker as the 21st overall pick. He's a 6-foot-5, 220-pound third baseman out of Decatur, Ga.
