MLB’s Oakland A’s are refusing to pay the $1.2 million annual rent that was due April 1 for its use of its city- and county-owned ballpark, the Oakland Coliseum.

Coliseum Authority head Henry Gardner told the ‘East Bay Times’ the A’s said that because they haven't been able to use the stadium due to the pandemic “they were not able to generate revenue and they have no ability to pay.” Authority board member Ignacio de LaFuente blasted the A’s, saying, “it’s just an excuse to try to not pay when the city needs the money the most.”
