The Boston Red Sox lost their second-round draft pick and their replay system operator was suspended, but they avoided major penalties as a result of MLB’s cheating probe.

Commissioner Rob Manfred concluded Boston’s sign-stealing in 2018, when they won the World Series, wasn’t as bad as the Houston Astros’ when they won the title the year before. Replay system operator J.T. Watkins was suspended for a year for violating the ban on in-game use of video to identify pitch signals.
