Kansas City Royals star catcher Salvador Perez is going to become a U.S. citizen, set to take the oath of allegiance on the Royals' FanFest main stage today after passing his citizenship test earlier this month.

The 29-year-old Venezuela native was named the Most Valuable Player in the Royals’ World Series win over the New York Mets in 2015. He was out last season due to Tommy John surgery.
