The Chicago Cubs are parting ways with shortstop Addison Russell. The Cubs placed Russell on non-tendered status Monday, but said it had nothing to do with his 40-game suspension after his ex-wife accused him of domestic violence.

 

McCann, White Sox Agree to Deal

All-Star catcher James McCann and the Chicago White Sox have agreed to a $5.4 million, one-year contract. McCann had been eligible for arbitration.

 

A's Trade Profar

The Oakland A’s have traded infielder Jurickson Profar to the San Diego Padres. Profar played in 139 games for the Athletics last season and hit 20 home runs.

 

Moustakas, Reds Agree To Deal

Free agent infielder Mike Moustakas and the Cincinnati Reds have agreed to a four-year contract worth $64 million. Moustakas belted 35 home runs for Milwaukee last season.

 

Marlins Claim Aguilar

The Miami Marlins have claimed first baseman Jesus Aguilar. The Tampa Bay Rays had designated Aguilar for assignment on Wednesday.
