Phillies Hire Joe Girardi As New Manager

The Philadelphia Phillies have hired Joe Girardi as their new manager. Girardi won three World Series titles as a player with the New York Yankees and another as their manager. Girardi replaces Gabe Kapler, who was fired at the end of the season.

Astros Fire GM Taubman

The Houston Astros have fired assistant GM Brandon Taubman following an expletive-filled tirade towards a group of female reporters in which he said he was glad the team had acquired Roberto Osuna. The Astros made the controversial move to acquire Osuna last season while he was serving a 75-game suspension for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
