SEB Continues To Win In EIC Tourney, Baseball Roundup

St. Elmo/Brownstown High School picked up its second victory in the Egyptian-Illini Conference Baseball Tournament Tuesday.

The Eagles and Mulberry Grove were tied at 1-1 in the first inning. SEB tallied a run in the third then took a 5-1 lead in the fourth. Mulberry Grove pulled within 5-4 in the sixth but SEB tallied two in the bottom of the frame for the 7-4 victory.

SEB banged out 12 hits in the game but committed five errors. Dalton Myers picked up the pitching win, going 5.2 innings allowing four runs on three hits, three walks and four strikeouts.

Caleb Atwood and Bryton Pruett continued their hot hitting. Atwood went four-for-four with two singles, two doubles and three RBI while Pruett had a single, two doubles and three RBI. Carson Nugent had a single and double.

SEB moved above the .500 mark with an 8-7 record and will now meet Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 7 p.m. in the final day of the tournament Thursday at Greenville College.

In the second game Tuesday, Ramsey outlasted Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in eight innings by an 8-6 count.

CHBC took a 3-0 first inning lead. Ramsey tied in the top of the fourth before CHBC took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the frame. Ramsey tied in the top of the sixth but CHBC came back to move ahead 5-4 in the bottom of the inning. Ramsey tied at 5-5 in the top of the seventh and the game went into the eighth.

Ramsey moved ahead 8-5 in the top of the frame. CHBC fought back but could only tally one run in the bottom of the inning to fall.

CHBC outhit Ramsey 7-3 but committed seven errors. S. Buzzard had a double for CHBC while Q. Schlanser had two singles.

CHBC is back in action Thursday against St. Elmo/Brownstown at 7 p.m. at Greenville University. The opening game that night will have Ramsey taking on Mulberry Grove at 4:15.

At Altamont

South Central came calling and picked up a win over Altamont, 9-2 Tuesday.

The Indians held a 1-0 lead until the fourth when South Central tied the score. The Cougars then pushed ahead with three runs in the fifth and went on for the victory.

H. Brandt had a single, double and two RBI for the winners while A. Dodson had a single and double. C. Dodson drove in two runs with a single.

Altamont was led by K. Eirhart with a single, double and an RBI.

At Windsor

Neoga and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg went three innings without a score before the Indians broke loose with three runs in the top of the fourth and finished out with a 3-1 victory Tuesday.

Both teams had five hits. Neoga was led by Roy with two singles while Moore, Romack and Kingery had a single each. Romack drove in a run.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had five hits, all singles by Kinkelaar, Wittenberg, Wernsing, Walden and Rincker. Sayers had an RBI.

Romack was the winning pticher, going six innings, allowing one run on five hits, four walks and striking out two.

At Dieterich

Dieterich pulled out a 6-5 victory scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh over Cisne Tuesday.

Cisne held a 3-2 lead after two innings but Dieterich pulled ahead with three runs in the bottom of the third, 5-4. That's where the scoring stayed until the Runnin' Lions moved into the lead with one in the top of the seventh. But Dieterich came back in the bottom of the frame for the victory.

Hunzinger had a triple and drove in two runs for the winners while Britton had a double and Kuhl two singles and an RBI.

Cisne was led by Callahan with a single, double and two RBI and Feterling with a single and triple.
