SIGEL -- Effingham St. Anthony defeated Sigel St. Michael to win the Class 1A St. Michael Regional championship Monday.

The Bullpups won by a 4-1 count and improved to 8-6. St. Anthony leaped out to a 3-0 first inning lead then tacked on a final run in the sixth.

Connor Roepke had a single and double for the Bulldogs while Elliot Frisbie had a single, double and drove in two runs.

Max Koenig was the winning pitcher, throwing 5.1 innings, allowing one hit, one run, seven walks and striking out three.

In the Class 1A Dieterich Regional, South Central pounded Newton St. Thomas, 17-7 to win the crown.

St. Anthony now meets South Central at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sigel St. Michael Sectional. The winner advances to the Class 1A State Tournament.

Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Teutopolis picked up a 2-0 win over Jasper County to claim the championship of the Casey-Westfield Regional Monday.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead as Evan Waldhoff singled and Joey Niebrugge drove in the runner. The Shoes tacked on another run in the third. T-town had three hits in the game, all singles by T. Pruemer, J. Niebrugge and E. Hanson. Pruemer and Niebrugge drove in a run each.

Joey Niebrugge earned the win on the mound, going five innings, allowing three hits, two walks and striking out two.

Jasper County had four hits, all singles, by I. Flowers, M. Meinhart, L. Burgener and B. Clark.

T-town improves to 17-2 and now meets Paris Mayo (9-3) at 11 a.m. Saturday at its own sectional.

Class 2A Greenville Regional

Stewardson-Strasburg saw its season come to a close at the Greenville Regional Monday.

Stew-Stras fell to Shelbyville Moulton, 4-2.

Moulton now advances to the Raymond Lincolnwood Sectional Saturday to face Gillespie at 11 a.m.

 

Class 3A Charleston Regional

Charleston claimed its own regional title by beating Mattoon, 5-1.

Charleston advances to sectional play and will take on Champaign Edison Saturday at 11 a.m.
