With opening day now just a week away, the fourth-ranked Louisville baseball team will conduct a trio of open scrimmages during the final preseason weekend.

The Cardinals will open the weekend on Saturday at 11am with a game-like scrimmage session inside Jim Patterson Stadium. That will be followed by an 11am start on Sunday, while the scrimmage schedule will conclude on Monday with a 1:45 p.m. start.

Fans are reminded that due to the final stages of the expansion construction at Jim Patterson Stadium, there will be no access to the primary seating areas in the ballpark this weekend.

Baseball America BIG EAST Preview

Baseball America released its BIG EAST Conference preview earlier this week on its website and the Cardinals were selected as the favorites to win the league title in 2013. The publication, which also tabbed Louisville at No. 4 in its preseason Top 25 for the Cardinals’ highest ranking, projects junior right-hander Chad Green as the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year.

In a listing of the Top 15 professional prospects in the BIG EAST Conference, seven of those were Cardinals led by sophomore righty Nick Burdi in the No. 2 spot overall. Fans can read the entire preview at http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/college/season-preview/2013/2614659.html.
