The Chicago Cubs say shortstop Javier Báez could return to the lineup if they reach the playoffs. Báez fractured his left thumb on a headfirst slide into second base during a September 1 game against Milwaukee.

Yankees' Tauchman Diagnosed With Calf Strain
New York Yankees outfielder Mike Tauchman has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 calf strain and is done for the season. Tauchman left Sunday night's game at the bottom of the fourth inning and an MRI later revealed the strain.
