The Chicago Cubs have placed closer Craig Kimbrel on the injured list with elbow inflammation. The Cubs also scratched infielder Javier Báez with lingering soreness in his left thumb.
Reds' Lorenzen Makes History Again
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen has made history for the second game in a row. After being the first player since Babe Ruth to pick up the win, homer and play in the outfield Wednesday night, Thursday Lorenzen started in center field, making him the first pitcher since Mike Ryba in 1936 to start as a position player the day after recording a win.
Marlin's Moran Faces Brother Colin
Miami Marlins pitcher Brian Moran made major league history Thursday night in his win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Moran became the first player in major league history to make his debut while on the mound facing his brother. Even better for Brian is that he struck out his younger brother Colin in the matchup.
