Teutopolis and Mattoon played an exciting back-and-forth game that saw the Wooden Shoes coming away with a 16-12 victory Thursday in junior high baseball action.

The game was tied at 12-12 with T-town batting in the top of the 13th. Tyler Pruemer then homered on the first pitch of the at-bat scoring three runs to pull out the win.

Pruemer went five-for-seven at the plate with two singles, a double and two home runs.

Ethan Thoele picked up the win on the mound allowing no runs on two hits over three innings. He struck out one. Evan Waldhoff, Brett Kreke and Joey Niebrugge all put in work in relief. Kreke recorded the last three outs to earn the save. Garrett Gaddis started the game, going six innings.

T-town had 19 hits led by Pruemer along with Eli Hanson, Niebrugge, Kreke and Waldhoff with multiple hits. The Shoes stole 15 bases with Hanson leading the way with four.

In a B game against Effingham St. Anthony, the Wooden Shoes tallied a 13-3 win in five innings.

The Shoes held a 4-0 lead after three innings then tacked on three in the fourth and ended the game with six in the fifth. St. Anthony scored all three of its runs in the fifth.

Hanson had a single, two doubles and four RBI while Waldhoff and a single, double and an RBI, Pruemer a double and two RBI, Thoele a double and an RBI and Niebrugge two singles and an RBI.

St.Anthony was led by Beau Adams with a triple and two RBI and Elliot Frisbie with a single and double.

Effingham St. Anthony ran out to a 9-0 opening inning lead and had an 11-run second in a 22-2 win over Taylorville in three innings Thursday.

The Bullpups banged out 17 hits led by Sam Link with two singles, a double and three RBI, Connor Roepke with a single, triple and three RBI, Elliot Frisbie with a single and triple and Joey C. Trupiano with two singles and an RBI.

Nick Martin threw the one-hitter allowing two walks and striking out three.

Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Neoga 9-0 in action Thursday.

Behind a nine-hit attack, Stew-Stras tallied six runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Gurgel had a single and two doubles for the winners while Morris had two singles and an RBI and Bridges a double.

Manhart picked up the win on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing five hits, one walk and striking out four.

Neoga had five hits, all singles by Lacy, Sheehan, Blazich, Gentry and Sharp.

South Central held a 4-0 opening inning lead then tacked on two runs in the second and fourth and three to end the game in the fifth.

North Clay (Louisville) came calling and claimed a 16-5 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo Thursday.

North Clay took a 4-0 opening inning lead and added on four in the second, three in the fourth and finished out with four in the seventh.

B. Czyzewski had three singles and two RBI for the winners while J. Weidner had a single, double and an RBI. T. Wells contributed two singles and three RBI while E. Kuenstler had two singles and four RBI and C. Dawkins two singles and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo had seven hits.
