KINMUNDY -- South Central High School took the early lead and never relented in a 4-2 National Trail Conference victory over Effingham St. Anthony in baseball action Tuesday.
The Cougars tacked on a second run in the third and finished with two in the fourth.
C. Dodson went six innings allowing three hits, three walks and striking out nine for the win.
Dodson aided his own cause offensively with a double and two RBI. H. Brandt added a double while A. Dodson had two singles. The Cougars are now 2-0 on the season.
St. Anthony had five hits, all singles, by K. Fearday, J. Hoene, L. Antrim, A. Mendella and C. Fearday. Antrim had an RBI.

At Altamont
Altamont claimed a 6-1 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown in National Trail Conference action Tuesday.
The Indians stepped out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and had a four-run fifth.
Altamont had eight hits led by J. Hammer with a triple and two RBI and T. Robbins with a double. A. Kopplin added two singles and an RBI.
Leading St. Elmo/Brownstown were C. Atwood and C. Nugent with a double each. SEB dropped to 0-1 in the National Trail conference and 1-1 overall.

Only one run crossed the plate in this game and that run was in the bottom of the seventh for Dieterich over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in action Tuesday.
The Movin' Maroons had six hits in the contest led by Britton with two singles. C. Niebrugge had a single and drove in the lone run.
Niebrugge went four innings on the mound allowing four hits, four walks and striking out six. But, he wasn't the winner as Will came on go the final three innings allowing two walks and striking out four.
Windsor/Stew-Stras had four hits, all singles by S. Vonderheide, G. Wernsing, R. Walden and A. Wittenberg.
