Effingham St. Anthony took a 3-0 first inning lead on Dieterich and went on for a 12-1 victory in five innings of junior high baseball action Friday.
The Bullpups had 11 hits led by Connor Roepke with three singles and four RBI, Max Koenig with a single, double and three RBI, Collin Westendorf with a double and an RBI and Elliot Frisbie with a double.
Ryan Schmidt was the winner on the mound going four innings allowing no hits, one run, one walk and striking out seven. Nick Martin came on in the final inning allowing no hits, one walk and striking out three.

At Morton
Effingham picked up a victory over Pekin Broadmoor at the Morton Millard Classic Tournament Friday and Saturday.
The Mustangs claimed a 10-5 win. EJHS had 11 hits led by Lewis with two singles, a double and four RBI, Webb with two doubles and an RBI, Raddatz with a triple and two RBI, Fox with two singles and Verdeyen with a double and an RBI.
The Mustangs then advanced to play Morton Saturday in winner bracket action and fell 13-1 in the semifinals. Morton scored the first run in the fourth then went on for the win.
Effingham had two hits, singles by Fox and Raddatz. That dropped the Mustangs into the third place game.
Effingham finished fourth with a 9-2 loss to Troy Sherwood.
The Mustangs had three hits led by Fox with a single and double. Effingham drops to 3-3 on the season.

At Mulberry Grove
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City picked up two victories and suffered two losses over the weekend in junior high boys baseball action.
In Friday's games, CHBC downed Mulberry Grove 6-4. Mulberry Grove held a 3-0 lead after two innings. But CHBC came back with two in the third and two in the top of the fourth. Mulberry Grove tied in the bottom of the inning. CHBC then had a two-run fifth.
CHBC had only three hits, singles by Jaxon Manley, Gage Lorton and Wyatt Rueff.
In the second contest, CHBC was a 6-5 winner. CHBC led 4-2 until the fifth then tacked on two more runs. Mulberry Grove had a three-run sixth only to fall short.
Clayton Wojcik had a single, double and an RBI while Manley had two singles. Dacotah Waters had a single, double and an RBI.
CHBC then competed Saturday in the Altamont Lutheran Tournament.
CHBC lost its opener against Mascoutah Holy Childhood, 10-3. Mascoutah had a seven-run second inning.
CHBC had only one hit, a single by Waters.
Then in the third place contest, Selmaville claimed a 5-4 victory over CHBC. CHBC held a 3-2 lead going into the sixth when Selmaville tallied three runs.
CHBC had four hits led by Waters with a triple and an RBI.
Altamont Lutheran defeated Selmaville 11-3 in a semifinal contest then claimed a 2-0 victory over Mascoutah Holy Childhood to win the championship.

Jasper County trounced Oblong Friday, 15-0.
Leading Jasper County in hitting were C. Nichols with a double, triple and two RBI, P. Wolf with two singles and an RBI, Flowers with a triple and two RBI and M. Meinhart with two singles and two RBI.
James went one inning, allowing no hits with one strikeout while Nichols went three inings, allowing no hits, two walks and striking out eight.
Then in Saturday play, Jasper County defeated Lawrenceville Parkview, 3-0.
Isaac Flowers went six innings allowing two hits, two walks and striking out nine for the win.
Flowers had three singles and drove in a run while Meinhart and Nichols had two singles each.
