CHICAGO -- The St. Louis Cardinals took over sole possession of the National League Central Division with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs Tuesday.

The Cardinals are noe a game ahead of the Cubs with the Milwaukee Brewers sitting a game behind the Cubs.

The Cubs' Yu Darvish went six innings, striking out nine and not allowing a walk. But, the Cardinals struck in the fourth when Darvish threw a wild pitch allowing the Cardinals to score a run. Then it was Paul Goldschmidt with a go-ahead home run in the sixth.

The Cubs scored one run against Adam Wainwright in the fourth. Jason Heyward singled and scored on Javier Baez' base hit. But the Cubs left the bases loaded in the sixth.

The Chicago Cubs have acquired right-handed reliever David Phelps and cash from the Toronto Blue Jays. In return, the Jays get minor league right-hander Thomas Hatch.

The Reds get Trevor Bauer from the Indians, while Cleveland sends Yasiel Puig to Cincinnati, who also get outfielder Franmil Reyes and pitcher Logan Allen from the Padres.
