Effingham St. Anthony took a 2-0 lead in the third inning and went on for an 11-3 victory over Cumberland in high school baseball competition Monday.

The Bulldogs had 10 hits in the game and were aided by four Cumberland errors.

Logan Antrim had two singles, a double and two RBI while Dylan Guy had two singles, Collin Koester a double and three RBI, Blake Niebrugge a double and an RBI and Bryson Wall a triple and an RBI.

Niebrugge went 4.2 innings, allowing six hits, two runs, three walks and striking out eight for the win on the mound. The Bulldogs improve to 19-4 on the season.

Cumberland was led by Brennyn Cutts with three singles and Ryan Mathenia with two singles.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then had a six-run third and a seven-run fourth for a 14-1 win in five innings over Altamont Monday.

Mitch Hemmen improved his record to 4-0 on the mound, going five innings, allowing one run on four hits, three walks and striking out seven.

T-town had nine hits led by Mitch Hardiek with two singles and four RBI, Luke Ungrund with two singles and two RBI and Tyler Runde with a double and two RBI. The Wooden Shoes are now 18-8.

Altamont was led by Alek Biggs with a double. The Indians drop to 10-11-1 on the season.

At Charleston

Charleston played host to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and sent the Hatchets home with a 9-2 loss Monday.

The Trojans' four pitchers combined for a no-hitter. Lane Harrell went 2.2 innings with four strikeouts, Cory Spour 1.1 innings with one strikeout, Jonah Becker 1.2 innings allowing two runs, two walks and striking out two and Brady Dillon 1.1 innings with one strikeout. Harrell picked up the win.

Charleston led 1-0 after the first then had a seven-run third and finished with 10 hits.

South Central ended this contest in the sixth by a 14-4 count over Neoga in action Monday.

The Cougars slammed out 15 hits in the game led by Sam Rubin with three singles and four RBI, Brandt Hiestand with three singles and an RBI, Sebastin Cowger with two singles and an RBI, Hunter Brandt with two singles and two RBI, Andrew Lybarger with two singles and three RBI.

Aaron Patten went five innings allowing six hits, four runs, one walk and striking out seven for the win.

Neoga was led in hitting by Isaac Walk with a double and an RBI and Trenton Moore with two singles and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo picked up a 4-1 victory over Mulberry Grove in action at GCS Ballpark Monday.

BSE moved ahead 1-0 in the third then added on a run in the fourth. Mulberry Grove pulled within 2-1 in the fifth. BSE answered back with two in the sixth.

Nate Philpot had a big day all-around. He threw a one-hitter with five walks and 11 strikeouts. Then he went four-for-four at the plate with three singles, a triple and an RBI.

BSE improves to 13-8 on the season.
