New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia recorded his 3,000th major league strikeout last night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sabathia is the 17th pitcher and third left-hander in big league history to reach the milestone.
Cubs Plan To Option Addison Russell
The Chicago Cubs reportedly plan to option Addison Russell to Triple-A Iowa on Friday when he finishes serving his 40-game suspension under baseball's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy. Russell was suspended last year after he was accused of abuse by his ex-wife.
Nationals Rendon Headed To IL
Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon is officially heading to the injured list with a bruised left elbow. Rendon had sat out seven of Washington's past eight games.
Dodgers Place Pollock on IL
The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed center fielder A.J. Pollock on the injured list and say he might need surgery because of an infection in his surgically repaired right elbow. Pollock has a plate and screw in the elbow from a 2010 injury.
Padres' Tatis Jr. To Miss Several Weeks
The San Diego Padres have placed rookie star Fernando Tatis Jr. on the injured list with a hamstring injury. The team says Tatis is expected to miss several weeks.
Suzuki Returns To Mariners
Ichiro Suzuki has returned to the Seattle Mariners, although not as a player. Suzuki will serve as a special assistant to the chairman and will work as an instructor with both the major league club and some of their minor league players.
