Bulldogs, Eagles, Pirates Nab Baseball Victories

LOUISVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony and North Clay (Louisville) went scoreless through the first three innings before the Bulldogs cut loose with a seven-run third and went on to end the high school baseball game in the fifth, 11-1.

The Bulldogs' Dylan Guy picked up the pitching win going all five innings, allowing one run on three hits, no walks and striking out 10.

St. Anthony had 10 hits led by Aaron Webb with a single, home run and two RBI, Bryson Wall with two singles and two RBI and Collin Koester and Guy with two singles each.

North Clay had doubles from Tyson Jones and Briar Repking.

St. Anthony improves to 17-4 on the season.

At Strasburg

Brownstown/St. Elmo came calling and picked up a 9-4 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday.

WSS held a 2-1 lead after the first inning but the Eagles moved ahead with two in the second then tallied three in the third, two in the fourth and one in the sixth.

BSE had 10 hits led by Rocky Himes with a single, home run and an RBI, Bryton Pruett with two doubles, Nate Philpot with a single, double and two RBI and Andy Goldsborough with two singles and an RBI.

Francisco Viramontes was the winning pitcher going four innings allowing two hits, two walks and striking out seven.

BSE improves to 12-8 on the season.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led in hitting by Gavan Wernsing with a home run and two RBI and Beau Bennett with a double and an RBI.

At Altamont

Altamont and Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond played to a 2-2 tie in action Monday.

ALAH took a 2-0 first inning lead and held that until the sixth when the Indians tied the score. The two teams went through 12 innings before the game was called at a 2-2 tie.

Jacob Hammer had a single, two doubles and an RBI for Altamont while Jacob Robbins had three singles, a double and an RBI. Noah Teasley added two singles.

The Indians are now 10-8-1 on the season.

Paris blanked Newton 10-0 in six innings via the 10-run rule Monday.

The Tigers led 3-0 after two and 7-0 after three. Paris had 13 hits in the contest.

Newton had six hits but finished with four errors.

Cumberland trailed Hutsonville/Palestine 1-0 until the bottom of the third then tallied two runs and finished out with one in the sixth. The Pirates then held off H/P for a 3-2 victory.

The Pirates had 10 hits led by Brennyn Cutts with two singles and a double, Brayson Shew with a single, double and an RBI and Ryan Mathenia with two singles.

Shew was the winning pitcher going 5.1 innings, allowing one run on four hits, four walks and 10 strikeouts.
