Effingham Splits Baseball Wins With Lincoln

Effingham High School split an Apollo Conference doubleheader with Lincoln in baseball action Saturday.

Zach Lee threw a no-hitter in the opener as the Hearts blanked Lincoln, 6-0. Lee went all seven innings, allowing no runs on no hits, three walks and struck out 13.

Meanwhile, EHS took a 3-0 first inning lead and tallied two in the fourth and one in the sixth with a 12-hit attack.

Brayton Poland and Cooper Jackson had three singles each while Z. Lee and Jackson Lee had two singles and three RBI each.

In the second game, Lincoln got its hitting back on track with 13 hits and finished with a 6-3 win in 11 innings.

The Hearts took a 1-0 first inning lead but Lincoln moved ahead 3-1 in the third. The Hearts came back with single runs in the fifth and sixth to tie the score sending the game into four extra innings before Lincoln broke open the game with three runs.

Nick Bishop hit a solo homer for the Hearts while Cameron Kalber had a double, Poland three singles and an RBI and Kendall Ballman with two singles.

At Neoga

Neoga played host to Flora and fell to the visitors, 10-0 in six innings Saturday.

Flora moved ahead 2-0 in the third inning then had a single run in the fifth and seven to end the game in the sixth.

The Indians had only two hits, singles by Issac Walk and Chase Banning.
