Effingham St. Anthony High School suffered its second baseball loss this week, falling to Charleston Wednesday, 1-0.
The Trojans tallied the winning run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Charleston's Dayton Simpson drew a walk with two outs in the inning and Corey Spour doubled to bring him home for the lone run of the game.
The Bulldogs had several opportunities. They loaded the bases in the first with no outs but two runners were picked off. St. Anthony put at least one runner on base in each inning but couldn't capitalize. Charleston players threw out five runners in the contest, two in the first and two in the seventh.
Lane Harrell picked up the pitching win on a five-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts over 4.2 innings. Simpson came on in relief going 2.1 innings allowing one hit, no walks and striking out two. Charleston improved to 12-5.
St. Anthony was led by Kaden Fearday with a single and double. The Bulldogs drop to 13-4 on the season.

At Neoga
Neoga stepped out to a 9-1 lead over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and went on for a 12-2 win in five innings via the 10-run rule Wednesday.
The Indians had a whopping 14 hits in the contest led by Adam Fearday with a single, double and an RBI, Chase Banning with a single, double and three RBI, Kaden Young with two singles and two RBI and Nate Lacy and Isaac Walk with two singles and an RBI each.
Lacy threw a four-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts for the win on the mound.
CHBC was led by Mason Manley and Seth Doty with two doubles each. Manley had two RBI.

Newton handed Red Hill (Bridgeport) a 14-1 loss in six innings Wednesday.
The Eagles tallied four runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and finished out with six in the sixth.
Newton had 12 hits that included five doubles. Evan Schafer led the way with two singles, a double and three RBI while Zach Stark had a single, double and three RBI and Ben Meinhart a single, double and an RBI. Mason Conlin added two singles and three RBI, Kyle Schafer a double and an RBI and Connor Bierman a double.
Stark was the winning pitcher, going six innings allowing one hit, one run, two walks and striking out six.

Brownstown/St. Elmo claimed a 6-3 victory over Odin/Patoka in action Wednesday.
Odin/Patoka took a 3-0 lead in the second and held that until the fourth when the Eagles came back strong with six runs.
Nate Philpot earned the win on the mound in relief, going 4.2 innings, allowing three hits, one walk and striking out nine.
Wyatt Chandler and Andy Goldsborough had a double each for the Eagles. Goldsborough had two RBI.
BSE improves to 11-6 on the season and will be back in action Friday at Mulberry Grove.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took a 3-0 first inning lead and went on for a 7-5 win over Ramsey Wednesday.
The Hatchets had six doubles in the contest with Sam Vonderheide hitting two of those with an RBI, Logan Greuel also had two doubles and two RBI. Riley Walden finished with a single and double while Gavan Wernsing had two singles, a double and an RBI. T. Sayers added two singles and an RBI.
