Neoga, Cumberland Claim Baseball Victories

COWDEN -- Neoga High School captured a 15-3 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City by the 10-run rule Wednesday in baseball action.

 

The Indians stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead then tallied two runs in the second, third and fourth innings and finished out with four in the fifth.

Neoga had 12 hits led by Chase Banning with a home run and two RBI, JC Keller with three singles and four RBI and Isaac Walk with a home run and three RBI. It was the first win of the season for Neoga as it improves to 1-9.

Trenton Moore picked up the win on the mound going all five innings, allowing five hits, three walks and striking out six.

At Tri-County

Cumberland had home run power going on in a 13-3 win over Tri-County Wednesday.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after the first inning. The Pirates then broke loose with a six-run second. Tri-County pulled within 8-3 in the third but Cumberland pushed across another run in the fourth and ended the game in the fifth, via the 10-run rule.

Justin Brown led the way for the Pirates with  a single, double, home run and five RBI. Brennyn Cutts added a solo shot while Reid Mathenia had a single, home run and three RBI.
