Effingham St. Anthony ended this baseball high school game via the 10-run rule at Evergreen Hollow Park Tuesday with a 13-3 win over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

The Bulldogs toook a 5-2 opening inning lead and tallied six runs in the second inning.

St. Anthony had eight hits led by Blake Niebrugge with the lone extra base hit of the contest, a double and two RBI. Jared Hoene and Bryson Wall added two singles each.

CHBC had six hits, all singles by six different players.

St. Anthony improves to 12-2 on the season.

At Dieterich

Dieterich edged Newton 3-2 in high school baseball action Tuesday.

The Movin' Maroons moved ahead 2-1 in the third inning and took a 3-1 lead in the fifth. Newton came back with a run in the sixth only to fall short.

Dieterich had five hits led by Cory Gephart with a double and an RBI.

Connor Bierman led Newton with a double and an RBI while Chase Galloway added two singles.

Matthew Hunzinger picked up the win on the mound, going 5.1 innings, allowing three hits, two runs, five walks and striking out seven.

At Flora

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg outlasted Flora in action Tuesday, 21-10.

The Hatchets banged out a whopping 21 hits in the contest and was aided by seven Flora errors.

WSS took a 7-4 opening inning lead and had four-run innings in the second and fourth.

The Hatchets were led by Beau Bennett, Logan Greuel, Sam Vonderheide, Riley Walden, G. Kasey and B. Beals with three singles each. Beals had five RBI while Vonderheide had three, Bennett and Greuel two each and Walden one. C. Kinkelaar added two singles and three RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo stepped out to a 3-0 first inning lead, had a five-run third and went on for an 11-1 win over Martinsville in five innings via the 10-run rule Tuesday.

Jace McWhorter picked up the pitching win going three innings allowing one run on three hits, five walks and five strikeouts.

Andy Goldsborough had two singles for the winners while Francisco Viramontes had a single and drove in two runs.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 8-4 on the season.

South Central had 12 hits, drew 13 walks and was aided by 10 Ramsey errors in taking a 23-4 win in five innings Tuesday.

The Cougars broke a 2-2 opening inning tie with a two-run second then tallied six in the third, 10 in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Chase Dodson led the way in hitting with three singles, a home run and four RBI. DJ Roberts added two singles and an RBI. Hunter Brandt had a single and finished with three RBI.

 At Teutopolis

Teutopolis suffered a 5-3 loss at the hands of Robinson in action Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes took a 1-0 first inning lead before Robinson tied in the second and moved ahead 3-1 in the third. T-town came back to tie the score in the fourth. But Robinson came through with two runs in the top of the seventh.

Three Maroon pitchers combined for a two-hitter. Slaughter gave up the two hits, three runs, three walks and struck ut three. Stifle finished out the final two innings, allowing no hits for the win.

T-trown was led by Clint Weber with a double. The Shoes drop to 9-5 on the season while Robinson improved to 12-1.

At Teutopolis

Okaw Valley played host to Neoga and sent the Indians home with a 5-0 loss.

Okaw Valley tallied four in the third and one in the fifth on five hits. Ramert was the winning pitcher on a two-hitter.

 

Junior Varsity Baseball

Effingham High School tallied a 12-4 junior varsity baseball win over Paris in Tuesday action.

The Hearts banged out 11 hits in the contest led by Christian Raddatz with two doubles and two RBI, Matthew Loy with three singles and an RBI and Kalen Reardon with two singles and two RBI.

Reardon picked up the ptiching win going five innings allowing one hit, three runs, two walks and striking out nine.
