Effingham edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and went on for an 8-1 high school baseball victory over Altamont Friday.
The Hearts had 11 hits in the contest led by Cooper Jackson with three singles and three RBI, Kendall Ballman with a single, double and an RBI, Tanner Gordon with a single and double and Brayton Poland with two singles.
Altamont had two hits, singles by Braidin Baucum and Kaden Eirhardt. Eirhardt added an RBI.
Jackson Lee was the winning pitcher going three innings allowing no runs on no hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

The Eagles tallied six runs n the second inning and tacked on the final run in the fifth.
Nate Philpot was the winning pitcher on a one-hitter with five walks and eight strikeouts.
Rocky Himes had a single, double and an RBI while Caleb Atwood added a double and Bryton Pruett had two singles and four RBI for the winners. BSE improves to 2-2 on the season.

Charleston handed Newton a 10-0 loss in action Friday evening.
The Trojans took a 1-0 first inning lead and never looked back, ending this one in the sixth.
Newton had three hits in the contest while Charleston had 12. The Eagles committed five errors.

Saturday Games
Teutopolis split victories at Greenville in Saturday action.
The Wooden Shoes downed Greenville, 5-1 behind the one-hit pitching of Dawson Smith and Clint Weber. Smith went four innings allowing one run on one hit, no walks and nine strikeouts. Weber came on for the save, going three innings, allowing no runs, no hits, one walk and striking out two.
Mitch Hemmen led the way offensively with two singles, a double and an RBI, Tyler Runde with a single and double and Luke Ungrund with two singles and an RBI.
In the second contest, Columbia edged T-town, 7-6.
The Shoes held a 2-0 lead after two innings but Columbia took a 3-2 lead in the third. T-town regained the lead with two runs in the fourth but Columbia pushed ahead with two in the fifth. T-town tied the score in the top of the seventh only to see Columbia win it in the bottom of the frame.
T-town outthit Columbia 13-8. Smith led the way with two singles, a double and an RBI while Mitch Hardiek had two singles and an RBI and Weber a double.

The Cougars defeated Vandalia 13-7 behind a 15-hit attack.
Chase Dodson had two singles, a home run and six RBI for the Cougars while Hunter Brandt had three singles, a double and five RBI. Sam Rubin added two singles and a double while Andrew Lybarger had two singles and an RBI.
In the second contest, Breese Mater Dei won over South Central, 5-2. Mater Dei tallied a run in the third, three in the fourth and finished out with one in the seventh. South Central's two runs came in the bottom of the seventh.
Brandt had ad double, home run and two RBI while Dodson added a double.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Indians stepped out to a 3-1 first inning lead and led 4-3 after four. Altamont tacked on a fnal run in the sixth for the 5-3 win.
Altamont had only three hits, two singles by Tyler Robbins and a single by Dakota Kuhlman. Central A&M committed three errors.
Kaden Eirhardt went all seven innings, allowing three runs on four hits, no walks and striking out seven.
In the second contest, Altamont blanked Central A&M, 5-0 behind a 10-hit attack.
The Indians were led by Braidin Baucum with a double and Kuhlman, Noah Teasley, Eirhardt and Sebastin Thompson with two singles each. Thompson had two RBI and Eirhardt an RBI.
