Free-agent catcher Yasmani Grandal and the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a one-year deal said to be worth $18.25 million. The switch-hitting Grandal hit 24 home runs with the Dodgers last season.


Mets, Lowrie Agree To Deal

The New York Mets and free-agent infielder Jed Lowrie have agreed on a two-year, $20 million deal. Lowrie recorded 23 home runs and 99 RBIs with the Oakland A's last season.


Oakland, Buchter Avoids Arbitration

The Oakland Athletics and reliever Ryan Buchter have avoided salary arbitration and agreed to a $1.4 million, one-year contract. Buchter more than doubled his 2018 salary of $555,000.


Nationals, Dozier Agree To Contract

Free agent infielder Brian Dozier and the Washington Nationals have agreed to a $9 million, one-year contract. The deal is pending a physical exam.


Mariners Reach One-Year Deals

The Seattle Mariners have reached one-year deals with pitcher Cory Gearrin and infielder Tim Beckham. Gearrin’s contract is for $1.4 million and Beckham’s for $1.75 million.


Phillies Avoid Arbitration

The Philadelphia Phillies avoided arbitration with pitchers Hector Neris and Jerad Eickhoff. They each agreed to one-year deals with Neris signing for $1.8 million and Eickhoff for $975,000.


Yankees, Bird Agree To One-Year Contract

The New York Yankees and first baseman Greg Bird have agreed to a $1.2 million, one-year contract and avoided arbitration. Bird started last season on the DL and lost the first base starting job to Luke Voit.


Oberg, Rockies Avoid Arbitration

Right-handed reliever Scott Oberg and the Colorado Rockies have agreed to a $1.3 million, one-year contract to avoid salary arbitration. Oberg was 8-1 with a 2.45 ERA and 57 strikeouts over 58 2/3 innings last season.
