Cubs' Joe Maddon Will Return

Despite losing the NL Wild Card game, Joe Maddon will return for a fifth season as manager of the Chicago Cubs and stay on for at least the final year of his contract. There had been rumors Maddon might be fired if the Cubs didn’t win the World Series.

Major League Baseball has suspended Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell for 40 games for violating the league's domestic abuse policy. Addison’s ex-wife accused him of physically and verbally abusing her.

Orioles' Showalter Is Out As Manager

Buck Showalter is out as manager of the Baltimore Orioles. Showalter’s contract expires at the end of October and the team has opted not to renew it following the worst season in franchise history in which the team went 47-115.
