Bulldogs, Indians, Maroons, Eagles Win

Effingham St. Anthony High School banged out 15 hits and downed North Clay (Louisville) 8-2 in National Trail Conference baseball action Wednesday. The victory gave the Bulldogs the NTC regular season championship.
The Bulldogs edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead. North Clay moved ahead in the top of the second 2-1 but St. Anthony came back with three runs in the bottom of the frame. The Bulldogs then scored three in the fourth and one more in the sixth.
Colin Koester and Bryson Wall had three singles and two RBI each. Davis Tingley added a single and triple while Blake Niebrugge had two singles and drove in a run and Jack Hoene had two singles.
Koester was the winning pitcher, going six innings, allowing three hits, two runs, gave up four walks and struck out six.

Altamont High School blanked Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 10-0 in five innings Wednesday in National Trail Conference play.
The Indians stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and ended the game via the 10-run rule.
Altamont had nine hits led by Dawson Guerrettaz with two singles, a double and two RBI. Kaden Eirhardt had two singles and Jacob Robbins a double and two RBI.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Bennett with a double.

Dieterich pounded out 11 hits and brought home 20 runs in a 20-0 National Trail Conference win over Neoga Wednesday.
The Movin' Maroons tallied seven in the first, five in the second, two in the third, four in the fourth and finished out with two in the fifth.
Dieterich's C. Hartke led the way in hitting with three singles and four RBI while Hunzinger added two singles and an RBI. C. Niebrugge had a single and drove in two runs.
Neoga had three hits led by Romack with a double.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Nate Philpot picked up the pitching win on a one-hitter with four walks and five strikeouts as the Eagles downed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 15-2 in five innings of National Trail Conference action Wednesday.
BSE edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then broke the game open with a seven-run second inning.
The Eagles had 18 hits with Jace McWhorter garnering two singles and a triple, Caleb Atwood two singles, a double and five RBI, Bryton Pruett with a single, double and an RBI, Andy Goldsborough a single, triple and two RBI, Nick Rosborough two singles and two RBI and Franscisco Viramontes two singles and an RBI. David Stine added two singles and Philpot a double and an RBI.
BSE is now 3-5 in the NTC and 8-7 overall. The Eagles won the Egyptian-Illini Conference with a 3-0 record.

Odin/Patoka came calling and picked up a 5-2 win over South Central Wednesday.
Odin/Patoka tallied all five runs in the second inning. South Central had single runs in the third and sixth.
The winners had five hits, all singles by five different players.
H. Brandt hit a solo homer for the Cougars.
