Bulldogs Claim Two Wins, Area Baseball Roundup

WINDSOR -- Effingham St. Anthony High School blanked Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in National Trail Conference baseball action Friday, 12-0.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first inning then tacked on two in the second and fourth and one in the third. They tallied five more in the seventh.

Davis Tingley and Blake Niebrugge combined to throw a no-hitter for the Bulldogs. Niebrugge went two-for-four at the plate with a single, double and two RBI and Tingley had three singles and drove in two runs.

In Saturday action, St. Anthony blanked Cobden, 13-0.

The Bulldogs charged out to a 5-0 first inning lead then had four-run innings in the second and third to finish the game in the fifth via the 10-run rule.

St. Anthony banged out 10 hits led by Hunter Stephens with a single, double and three RBI, Colin Koester with three singles and three RBI and Kaden Fearday with two singles and an RBI.

Dylan Guy was the winning pitcher, going four innings, allowing three hits, three walks and striking out seven.

South Central claimed a 7-3 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo in action Friday.

BSE took a 3-1 first inning lead but the Cougars came back with two rin the second, three in the third and one in the fifth for the victory.

The Cougars had eight hits led by Brandt Hiestand with two singles and DJ Roberts with two singles and three RBI.

SEB was led by Andy Goldsboro with two singles and an RBI and Pruett with two singles. McWhorter and Chandler added a double and an RBI each.

At Brownstown

Teutopolis downed South Central 10-3 in the North Clay Showcase Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and never looked back in improving to 10-1 on the season.

Trenton Schwerdt had a double and an RBI for the Shoes while Mitch Hemmen added two singles. M. Althoff had two singles and drove in two runs while Luke Ungrund had two RBI.

South Central was led by DJ Roberts with a solo home run.

In the Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Inivtiatonal Saturday, WSS handed Mulberry Grove a 5-3 loss. The Hatchets took a 2-1 first inning lead then tallied three more in the third.

S. Vonderheide and Bennett had two singles each while Bennett added an RBI. Greuel had a double and two RBI.

In the second contest, Woodlawn downed Windsor/Stew-Stras, 7-3.

Woodlawn stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and never looked back.

Greuel had single, triple and two RBI while Miller had a double for the Hatchets.

Dieterich broke a 0-0 tie in the fourth inning with five runs and downed Neoga 5-1 Saturday in the North Clay Showcase.

The Movin' Maroons had four hits led by E. Bohnhoff with a single, double and three RBI and M. Hunzinger with a double and two RBI.

Neoga was led by Lanham with a double.
