CHICAGO -- It's a sweep!  The Chicago Cubs smacked out 13 hits and blanked Cincinnati, 9-0 to complete the four-game series sweep Sunday.

Daniel Murphy provided the spark that ignited the 9-0 win. Murphy had a single and double as the leadoff man and the Cubs have picked up all five victories since he arrived.

Providing the power were David Bote who hit a single and a two-run shot in the third and Kyle Schwarber who knocked out a two-run homer in the seventh. Jason Heyward had three singles, a triple and two RBI while Anthony Rizzo added a single and double.

The Cubs are now 76-53 on the season with 23 games over .500.

Kyle Hendricks gave up two hits over seven innings and now has 10 wins for the second time in his career.

Cardinals 12, Rockies 3

DENVER -- Matt Carpenter again led the Cardinals, this time to a 12-3 pounding of the Colorado Rockies.

And, he did it in style . . . with four doubles and two RBI. The first baseman tied a Major League Baseball mark for doubles in a game with four as the Cardinals retained their half-game lead on the National League Wild Card's top spot.

Carpenter doubled twice, scored and drove in a run in the Cardinals' six-run first inning. He then doubled home and scored another run in the four-run fourth. He added on two more in the game.

Jedd Gyorko had three singles and an RBI while Tyler O'Neill hit a single, home run and had two RBI. Yadier Molina chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

The Cardinals have the most wins in baseball in the second half and are 15 games above .500.

A's Place Manaea On DL

The Oakland A’s have placed left-hander Sean Manaea on the 10-day DL with a shoulder impingement. Manaea tossed a no-hitter against Boston earlier this season.

Hawaii Wins Little League World Series

Hawaii won the Little League World Series with a 3-0 victory over South Korea. Mana Lau Kong homered on the first pitch of the game and pitcher Ka'olu Holt went the distance. It's the first Little League World Series title for Hawaii since 2008.
