Effingham Sacred Heart improved to 2-1 on the season by blanking Okaw Valley 9-0 in junior high baseball action Thursday.

Jacob Boyajian led the Shamrocks with four singles. Josh  McDevitt and Josh Jenson had a single and an RBI each. Dawson Lohman had two RBI and Noah Biggs one.

Josh McDevitt threw a complete game. allowing one hit, one walk and striking out 20.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis had a five-run third and a three-run fourth in downing Effingham in B action Thursday, 9-6.

T-town was led by Bennett Thompson with two singles, a double and an RBI and Jackson Pals with a double.

Effingham dropped to 2-1 on the season. Verdeyen led the Mustangs with two singles and an RBI.

Shelbyville ran off to an 18-2 opening inning lead on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and finished with an 18-3 victory Thursday.

Shelbyville had 11 hits while holding CHBC to four.

CHBC was led by Ian Hammond with two singles and Gage Lorton with a single and an RBI.

Flora edged Jasper County, 8-7, in action Thursday.

Marc Jansen had a single and double for Jasper County while Dalton Baltzell had a single and a home run. Issac Flowers contributed a single and double while Max Meinhart added a double.

Jasper County is now 9-1 on the season.

Newton St. Thomas fell to Casey-Westfield 7-3 in action Thursday.

Leading hitters for St. Thomas were Drew Buerster, Evan Baltzell and Dylan Gier.

 

At Field

Altamont Lutheran pounded home 15 runs to blank Field, 15-0 Thursday.

Lutheran had eight hits led by L. Cornett with a single, double and an RBI, N. Shepard with a double and an RBI and L. Shepard with two singles and three RBI.

N. Stuemke picked up the one-hit pitching win, allowing three walks and striking out eight.
