St. Louis Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks has tied Aroldis Chapman's mark for the fastest pitch in baseball history at 105 mph. Hicks tossed two pitches at that speed in the Cardinals’ 5-1 win over the Phillies Sunday.

Rookie Jack Flaherty threw almost 120 pitches and finished with 13 strikeouts for the win through eight innings. Flaherty became the youngest Major League Baseball starter in five years going the 120-pitch limit. He retired the first 10 batters he faced.

Tyler O'Neill homered for the second straight game and had a three-hit game. Matt Carpenter also had three hits and Greg Garcia drove in two runs.

Cubs 6, Reds 1

Yu Darvish threw six innings and helped the Chicago Cubs handed the Cincinnati Reds a 6-1 loss Sunday.
Darvish allowed one earned run on two hits and walked three batters. He finished with seven strikeouts.

The Cubs offense helped Darvish with three home runs. In the top of the second, Kyle Schwarber and Javier Baez hit back-to-back shots. Ben  Zobrist added a leadoff homer in the fifth.

Braves Release Bautista

The Atlanta Braves have released Jose Bautista just a month after picking up the veteran slugger. Bautista hit .143 with two homers and five RBIs in 12 games with the Braves and will be replaced on the roster by third baseman Johan Camargo.
