T-town Edges North Clay, Area Baseball Roundup

LOUISVILLE -- It was power hitting time for Teutopolis High School as the Wooden Shoes edged North Clay/Clay City 5-4 in eight innings of baseball action Tuesday.
The Shoes had two home runs in the contest. Cody Jansen had a single, a home run and drove in two RBI while Drew Thoele hit a two-run shot. Clint Weber contributed three singles to the cause.
North Clay held a 1-0 lead until the fourth when T-town scored two. The Shoes led 4-1 going into the bottom of the seventh but the Cardinals tied the game with three runs.
North Clay was led by Bloemer and Clifton with two singles each. Clifton added an RBI.
Collin Funneman came on to throw 1.1 innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out three for the pitching win. Ethyn Dust went 6.2, allowing six hits, four runs, four walks and striking out six.
The Shoes improve to 16-5 while North Clay drops to 15-5.

At Kinmundy
South Central played host to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg and sent the Hatchets home with an 8-2 loss Tuesday.
The Cougars took a 1-0 first inning lead then had a five-run third and that was the contest.
Hunter Brandt had three singles, a double and drove in four runs for the winners. He also was the winning pitcher, going all seven innings, allowing five hits, two runs, one walk and keeping the Hatchets offstride with 12 strikeouts.
Cauy Blomberg had a single, double and an RBI while Trent Geiler had a double for South Central.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Isaac Kramer with two singles and an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo banged out 11 hits and was aided by four Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City errors in a 10-4 victory Tuesday.
BSE zipped off to a 3-1 first inning lead and was never headed. Bryton Pruett had a single, two doubles and drove in a run for the winners while Caleb Atwood had a single, two doubles and two RBI. Andy Goldsborough and Jace McWhorter had a double each. Goldsborough had two RBI.
CHBC was led by Kaleb Doty, Nick Miller and Aaron Wells with a double each.
Brownstown/St. Elmo improves to 4-9 on the season.

Newton took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third but Neoga came back with five runs in the bottom of the frame and held on for an 8-5 win Tuesday.
The Indians' Caleb Hill had a single, home run and drove in three runs. Drew Ramert added a double and an RBI while Clayton Butler had a single and a double.
Newton was led by Wagy with two home runs and three RBI.
Neoga improves to 11-5 on the season.
