St. Anthony High School senior Joseph Kabbes has signed to play college baseball at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, a Chicago suburb.

Kabbes, the son of Chris and Pam Kabbes, has had great success at the plate but has also been a successful pitcher for the Bulldogs. He was a key ingredient in St. Anthony's run to the super-sectional last season.

Kabbes said Trinity Christian made him think of the atmosphere at St. Anthony, which was a real draw.

Here's Greg Sapp's visit with Joe Kabbes...

Trinity Christian Coach Justin Huisman is in his seventh season as head coach of the Trolls. Huisman said Kabbes' talent is obvious, but said he was impressed with Joe as a person when he and his father visited the campus. He's pleased with Kabbes' ability to play a number of positions as well as swing the bat. Here's our visit...

St. Anthony Coach Kenny Koenig said the number one thing Kabbes has going for him in having success at the college level is his work ethic. Koenig said the effort Joe has put in in the workout room and the batting cage as well as on the mound has helped him grow from "little Joe Kabbes" as a freshman to "giant Joe Kabbes" today. He noted the adjustments Kabbes has made on the mound has increased his effectiveness, something he said is noteworthy considering the spring he had last season.
