Kabbes' Four Hits Lead St. A, EHS Beats N. Clay, Area Baseball Roundup

Joseph Kabbes had a big day at the plate for Effingham St. Anthony High School Thursday.
Kabbes had four hits as the Bulldogs downed Flora 15-2 in baseball action. Kabbes singled in the first inning, hit a grand slam home run in the second, homered again in the fourth and, once again, in the sixth. He finished with eight RBI.
Flora took a 2-0 first inning lead but that didn't last long as the Bulldogs tallied five in the second. The two teams were quiet in the third inning before the Bulldogs brought home four more in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the sixth.
Four players had two hits each for the Bulldogs. Dylan Guy, Adam Levitt, Jacob Guy and Aaron Webb had two singles each. J. Guy drove in two runs while Webb had one RBI. Colin Koester hit a double and had an RBI.
Gavin Braunecker picked up the pitching win on a two-hitter with one walk and seven strikeouts.

At Louisville
Effingham High School called at North Clay (Louisville) and picked up an 8-6 victory Thursday.
The Hearts edged out to a 3-2 opening inning lead then had to hold off a North Clay attack in the sixth inning.
EHS had 12 hits in the game led by Ryan Sandifer with four of those hits. Sandifer tagged three singles, a double and drove in four runs. Brett Koester had two singles and an RBI while Parker Seachrist added two singles.
North Clay was led by Quincy Aldrich and Luke Fleener with a double and an RBI each.
Effingham threw six pitchers in the contest. PIcking up the win was Bryce Lohman who went 2.1 innings, allowed no hits and gave up four walks.
The Hearts improve to 6-1 on the season.

At Mulberry Grove
Altamont bashed Mulberry Grove, 14-5 in action Thursday.
The Indians had 13 hits in the contest and were aided by five Mulberry Grove errors.
Altamont broke a 1-1 tie with an eight-run second. Kopplin had two doubles and two RBI while Jacob Robbins had a single, double and three RBI. Alek Biggs added a single, triple and an RBI while Jacob Hammer had two singles. Noah Teasley a double and an RBI and Kolby Pemberton a double and an RBI.
Hammer picked up the pitching win, going three innings allowing two runs on two hits, three walks and striking out four. Altamont improves to 3-6 on the season.

South Central scored three runs in the top of the sixth to pull out a 4-2 win over Greenville Thursday.
The Cougars held a 1-0 lead until the fourth when Greenville moved ahead 2-1.
Both teams had six hits in the game. Ryan McCown had two singles while Ryan Matheny added a double and an RBI.
Trent Geiler was the winning pitcher going all seven innings, allowing six hits, two runs, three walks and striking out five.

Bryton Pruett had a huge day for the Bombers going four for five with four singles and four RBI. Nate Philpot and Hunter Strauch had a double and an RBI each while Andy Goldsborough had two singles.
Philpot picked up the pitching win going four innings, allowing two runs on two hits, one walk and striking out 10.
BSE improves to 2-6 on the season.

Teutopolis pounded home 11 runs and had 10 hits in an 11-1 win over Dieterich in five innings Thursday.
The Wooden Shoes took a 4-0 first inning lead and never looked back. The Shoes had 10 hits in the game.
Drew Thoele had a single, home run and three RBI while Cody Jansen added two doubles and an RBI. Jackson Goeckner, Lee Hardiek and Luke Ungrund had a double each. Ungrund and Hardiek added an RBI each.
Dieterich was led by Matthew Hunzinger and Paul Thoele with two singles each. Hunzinger had an RBI.
T-town improves to 7-3 on the season while Dieterich drops to 4-2.

Neoga ended this game in the sixth as the Indians beat Cumberland 12-2.
Neoga stepped out to a 5-2 opening inning lead then had a three-run second and didn't look back.
Neoga banged out 10 hits in the contest led by Evan Fritcher who went three-for-three with two singles, a home run and three RBI, Lane Adnrews a single, double and an RBI and Caleb Hill a single, home run and three RBI.

The Eagles edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead.. That was the last runs until the fifth when the Eagles brought home eight to end the game.
Jansen went all five innings, allowing four hits, one walk and striking out four. He also had two singles in the game. Wagy had a single, home run and three RBI while Bierman had two singles and an RBI.
