St. Anthony, WSS To Meet For NTC Tourney Title

Effingham St. Anthony and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will meet for the championship of the National Trail Conference Tournament after both picked up victories Wednesday evening.
St. Anthony's Davis Tingley had a busy day at the plate, smacking out four hits in the Bulldogs 9-1 victory over Altamont at Paul Smith Field.
Tingley singled in the first, singled in the second, singled in the fourth and singled in the fifth. He drove in four runs.
St. Anthony edged out to a 2-1 lead in the second inning before bringing home five runs in the fourth and single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Altamont's lone run came in the second.
Adam Levitt had a single, double, triple and drove in three runs for St. Anthony. Greg Utz had a double and two RBI and Blake Niebrugge a double. Jacob Guy added two singles.
Colin Koester went six innings, allowing three hits, one run, three walks and striking out six for the win. Gavin Braunecker came on to pitch the final inning with one strikeout.
Altamont's hits were singles by Dakota Kuhlman, Alek Biggs and Brandin Baucum.
In a contest at Evergreen Hollow Park, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg was on a hitting spree, knocking out 17 hits and downing North Clay (Louisville) 12-4.
Beau Bennett had four singles, a triple and two RBI while Christian Kessler had four singles and four RBI. Isaac Kramer had two singles and an RBI while Logan Greuel had two singles.
The Cardinals had five hits led by Luke Fleener with three singles and an RBI.
Windsor/Stew-Stras advances to face Effingham St. Anthony at 7 p.m. Friday for the championship. North Clay will square off against Altamont at 4:15 p.m. for third place. Both games will be contested at Paul Smith Field.
In consolation bracket action, South Central edged St. Elmo/Brownstown 3-2.
SEB took a 1-0 lead and held that until the Cougars tied in the third then moved ahead with a run in the fourth. South Central finished out its scoring with a run in the sixth. SEB attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh but fell a run short.
Dodson had a single and double for the Cougars while Patton had two singles and drove in a run.
St. Elmo/Brownstown's Maxey had all three hits with a single and two doubles.
Brandt went six innings for the pitching win, allowing two hits, one run and striking out five.
Neoga claimed a 9-7 victory over Dieterich. The score was tied at 1-1 after two innings before Dieterich took a 3-1 lead in the third.
The Indians came back with a run in the fourth and a run in the top of the fifth to knot the score at 3-3. The Movin' Maroons moved ahead with a run in the bottom of the fifth. Neoga went ahead 4-3 in the sixth then broke loose with a five-run seventh. Dieterich again attempted a comeback with a three-run bottom of the seventh but couldn't make up the five-run Neoga seventh.
Hill led Neoga with a single, home run and two RBI. Walk had a single and drove in three runs.
Dieterich was led by Niebrugge with a single, double and two RBI, Thoele with two singles and an RBI and Schmidt with a double and two RBI.
Neoga and South Central will meet at 4:15 p.m. at Evergreen Hollow Park Friday for the consolation championship.
