Effingham Senior Legion Squad Edges Jasper Post

The Effingham Post #120 Senior American Legion team edged Robinson Post #69 4-3 in action Monday night at Paul Smith Field in Effingham.

Colby Utz pitched three innings to earn the win while Cody Grove pitched a scoreless final inning to pick up the save.

Post #120 scored four runs on six hits while allowing three runs on six hits.

For Post #120, Hudson Graham had a hit and drove in a run, Brett Koester had a single, RBI and run scored, and Kendal Ballman, Alec Morrissey and Bryce Lohman each had a hit to round out the offense. Lane Koenig also drove in two runs.

Effingham heads to Newton tonight for conference action against Jasper Post #20, and then will head west to take on the Flora Wolves baseball team Thursday at Busch Stadium following the Cardinals game

Effingham's Monday win secured a second seed in the American Legion District Tournament, which will be hosted by Effingham this Friday through Sunday at Paul Smith Field at Community Park. Effingham's first action will be Friday at 7:30pm against the same Robinson team they just defeated Monday night.
